Deformation control criterion of shield tunnel under lateral relaxation of soft soil

摘要: Metro shield tunnels under the lateral relaxation of soil (LRS) are susceptible to significant lateral deformations, which jeopardizes the structural safety and waterproofing. However, deformation control standards for such situations have not been clearly defined. Therefore, based on a specific case, a model test is conducted to realize the LRS of a shield tunnel in a sandy stratum to reveal its effect on segment liners. Subsequently, a deformation control criterion is established. The LRS is simulated by linearly reducing the loads applied to the lateral sides of the segment structure. During lateral unloading, the lateral earth pressure coefficient on the segment decreases almost exponentially, and the structural deformation is characterized by horizontal expansion at the arch haunches and vertical shrinkage at the arch vault and arch bottom. Based on the mechanical pattern of the segment structure and the acoustic emission, the deformation response of a segment can be classified into three stages: elastic and quasi-elastic, damage, and rapid deformation development. For a shield tunnel with a diameter of approximately 6 m and under the lateral relaxation of sandy soil, when the ellipticity of the segment is less than 2.71%, reinforcement measures are not required. However, the segment deformation must be controlled when the ellipticity is 2.71% to 3.12%; in this regard, an ellipticity of 3% can be used as a benchmark in similar engineering projects.

为了初步解决新奥法隧道工程支护初期缺乏有效的、定量的围岩稳定性判据以及塌方事故多见的技术难题,文章论述了变形速率比值判据假说的依据,得出阈值的方法及应用中常的五种典型情况;猫山公路隧道施工中正反两方面的演绎证明,两个断面应用变形速率比值判据预报险情,化险为夷,另一断面中止应用此判据后,发生大塌方;变形速率比值判据是一种典型信息法,是一种假说—演绎方法,是从定性到定量综合集成法的一种初步应用。

软硬不均地层盾构姿态控制及管片防裂损技术

摘要:

广州地铁二号线越—三盾构区间的地层软硬不均,加之曲线多、坡度变化大,盾构掘进技术难度大,掘进方向与盾构姿态的控制困难,防止管片开裂和局部破损以及错台具有一定的难度。为了有效地控制掘进方向和盾构姿态,研究了盾构掘进方向发生偏差的原因,并对越—三区间盾构掘进的偏差实测数据进行具体分析,得出了偏差的原因和规律;研究了盾构掘进姿态的控制方法。为了防止盾构管片的裂损,采用数值模拟方法研究管片裂损的规律及其主要因素,提出了有效控制管片裂损的主要方法。

合龙段底板分层破坏抗裂设计方法研究

摘要:

针对悬浇预应力混凝土箱梁桥合龙段底板在合龙索张拉过程中经常发生分层破坏的现象,介绍了混凝土多种破坏准则,并从理论上指出最大拉应力准则不适用于箱梁桥合龙段的底板抗裂设计,而应该采用双向应力状态下的混凝土强度破坏准则。选取多座典型破坏桥梁与未发生破坏桥梁为研究对象,建立了桥梁结构的三维实体有限元模型,得出合龙段底板预应力管道之间的竖向应力与纵向应力,进而利用不同混凝土破坏准则分别对典型桥梁的应力状态及安全性做了预测,并与桥梁实测结果进行了对比,证明了理论分析的正确性。研究结论可为同类桥梁的抗裂设计提供参考。

Bending failure performance of a shield tunnel segment based on full-scale test and numerical analysis

摘要: This study focuses on the bending failure performance of a shield tunnel segment. A full-scale test was conducted to investigate deformation and failure characteristics. During the loading, the bending failure process can be divided into four stages: the elastic stage, working stage with cracks, failure stage, and ultimate stage. The characteristic loads between contiguous stages are the cracking, failure, and ultimate loads. A numerical model corresponding to the test was established using the elastoplastic damage constitutive model of concrete. After a comparative analysis of the simulation and test results, parametric studies were performed to discuss the influence of the reinforcement ratio and proportion of tensile longitudinal reinforcement on the bearing capacity. The results indicated that the change in the reinforcement ratio and the proportion of tensile longitudinal reinforcement had little effect on the cracking load but significantly influenced the failure and ultimate loads of the segment. It is suggested that in the reinforcement design of the subway segment, the reinforcement ratio and the proportion of tensile longitudinal reinforcement can be chosen in the range of 0.7%–1.2% and 49%–55%, respectively, allowing the segment to effectively use the reinforcement and exert the design strength, thereby improving the bearing capacity of the segment.

Optimization of spatial structure designs of control rod using Monte Carlo code RMC

摘要: Control rod is the most important approach to control reactivity in reactors, which is currently a cluster of pins filled with boron carbide (B4C). In this case, neutrons are captured in the outer region, and thus the inner absorber is inefficient. Moreover, the lifetime of the control rod is challenged due to the high reactivity worth loss resulted from the excessive degradation of B4C in the high flux area. In this work, some control rod designs are proposed with optimized spatial structures including the spatially mixed rod, radially moderated rod, and composite control rod with small-sized pins. The control rod worth and effective absorption cross section of these designs are computed using the Monte Carlo code RMC. A long-time depletion calculation is conducted to evaluate their burnup stability. For the spatially mixed rod, rare-earth absorbers are combined with B4C in spatial structure. Compared with the homogenous B4C rod, mixed designs ensure more sufficient reactivity worth in the lifetime of the reactor. The minimum reactivity loss at the end of the cycle is only 1.8% from the dysprosium titanate rod, while the loss for pure B4C rod is nearly 12%. For the radially moderated design, a doubled neutronic efficiency is achieved when the volume ratio of moderator equals approximately 0.3, while excessive moderating may lead to the failure of control rods. The control rod with small-sized pins processes an enhanced safety performance and saves the investment in absorbers. The rod worth can be further enhanced by introducing small moderator pins, and the reactivity loss caused by the reduction of absorbers is sustainable.

PID neural network control of a membrane structure inflation system

摘要: Because it is difficult for the traditional PID algorithm for nonlinear time-variant control objects to obtain satisfactory control results, this paper studies a neuron PID controller. The neuron PID controller makes use of neuron self-learning ability, complies with certain optimum indicators, and automatically adjusts the parameters of the PID controller and makes them adapt to changes in the controlled object and the input reference signals. The PID controller is used to control a nonlinear time-variant membrane structure inflation system. Results show that the neural network PID controller can adapt to the changes in system structure parameters and fast track the changes in the input signal with high control precision.

A redundantly actuated PRPRP radial mechanism in the segment erector of a shield machine for synchronizationcontrol

The shield machine is a heavy construction machine for tunnel excavation, and the segment erector is an important subsystem of the shield machine. It is difficult to achieve precise control in the 6-DOF (degree of freedom) erector in the 2-DOF 5-bar radial mechanism. Hence, this paper proposes a redundantly actuated PRPRP radial mechanism for the segment erector. When the redundant actuator is unlocked, the radial mechanism is able to adjust its posture, which has two degrees of freedom. On the other hand, when the redundant actuator is locked or produces enough pre-tightening tensile force, the PRPRP mechanism can ensure the synchronization of the two driving hydraulic cylinders along the radial direction based on the mechanical structure, which has one degree of freedom. The redundant actuator also facilitates the equal application of two flexural torques at the hydraulic cylinders; thus, preventing the overload of a single cylinder.

Drive system design and error analysis of the 6 degrees of freedom segment erector of shield tunneling

Focusing on a segment erector of a shield-tunneling machine developed with 6 degrees of freedom (DOF) and controlled by electro-hydraulic proportional systems, the kinematics of the segment erection process is presented. The perturbation method in the error analysis is introduced to establish the position and attitude error model, considering a number of factors such as the hydraulic drive, control accuracy, and tolerance in manufacturing and assembly. Dynamic simulations are carried out to obtain the controlling precision of electrohydraulic drive systems. Formulas for calculating the position and attitude error of the grip hand of the segment erector are derived. The calculation results verify the practicality and effectiveness of the error analysis, providing a foundation for practical designing, manufacturing, and assembling of the segment of the erecting mechanism.

Vibration control of a structure using Magneto-Rheological grease damper

This paper describes an application study of Magneto-Rheological (MR) grease damper to a structure with three stories. MR fluid is known as one of successful smart materials whose rheological properties can be varied by magnetic field strength, and has been applied to various kinds of device such as dampers, clutches, engine mounts, etc. However, ferromagnetic particles dispersed in MR fluid settle out of the suspension after a certain interval due to the density difference between the particles and their career fluid. To overcome this defect, we have developed a new type of controllable working fluid using grease as the career of magnetic particles. Network of thickener in grease is expected to hold the magnetic particles and prevent them from settled down. No or little sedimentation was observed in MR grease whose characteristics could be controlled by the magnetic field strength. MR grease was introduced into a cylindrical damper and its performance was studied. As a result, it was confirmed that the damping force of MR grease damper could be controlled by the applied electric current to the coil in the cylinder of damper. Furthermore, vibration response of a three-story model structure equipped with MR grease damper was investigated experimentally, and it was shown that MR grease damper worked effectively as a semi-active damper.

The influence of hand hole on the ultimate strength and crack pattern of shield tunnel segment joints

摘要: With the shield tunnel going deeper and deeper, the circumferential axial force becomes the governing factor rather than the bending moment. The hand hole acts as a weak point and initial damage in the segment joint especially when the circumferential axial force is extremely high. Despite the wide application of steel fiber or synthetic fiber in the tunneling, limited researches focus on the structural responses of segment joint with macro structural synthetic fiber (MSSF). In this paper, a 1:2 reduced-scale experiment was conducted to study the structural performance of the segment joint with different types of hand holes under ultra-high axial force. Special attention is paid to failure mode and structural performance (bearing capacity, deformation, cracking, and toughness). Moreover, segment joints with MSSF are also tested to evaluate the effects of MSSF on the failure mode and structural performance of the segment joints. The experiment results show that the hand hole becomes the weakest point of the segment joint under ultra-high axial force. A \ /-type crack pattern is always observed before the final failure of the segment joints. Different types and sizes of the hand hole have different degree of influences on the structural behavior of segment joints. The segment joint with MSSF shows higher ultimate bearing capacity and toughness compared to segment joint with common concrete. Besides, the MSSF improves the initial cracking load and anti-spallling resistance of the segment joint.

Adaptive selective ES-FEM limit analysis of cracked plane-strain structures

摘要: This paper presents a simple and efficient approach for predicting the plastic limit loads in cracked plane-strain structures. We use two levels of mesh repartitioning for the finite element limit analysis. The master level handles an adaptive primal-mesh process through a dissipation-based indicator. The slave level performs the subdivision of each triangle into three sub-triangles and constitutes a dual mesh from a pair of two adjacent sub-triangles shared by common edges of the primal mesh. Applying a strain smoothing projection to the strain rates on the dual mesh, the incompressibility constraint and the flow rule constraint are imposed over the edge-based smoothing domains and everywhere in the problem domain. The limit analysis problem is recast into the compact form of a second-order cone programming (SOCP) for the purpose of exploiting interior-point solvers. The present method retains a low number of optimization variables. It offers a convenient way for designing and solving the large-scale optimization problems effectively. Several benchmark examples are given to show the simplicity and effectiveness of the present method.

Experimental research on ductile fracture criterion in metal forming

Ductile fracture criterion is key limitation parameter in material forming. Accuracy predicting surface and internal failure in plastic deformation process affects on the technology design of workpiece and die greatly. Tension, compression, torsion and shearing test on 45# steel are utilized for providing the experimental values of the critical values at fracture, and 11 widely used ductile fracture criterion are selected to simulate the physical experiments and their relative accuracy for predicting and quantifying fracture initiation sites are investigated. The comparing results show that metal forming process under high triaxiality can be estimated successively using both Normalized Cockcroft-latham and the Brozzo ductile fracture criteria, but the Ayada and general Rice-Tracey model work very well for the low triaxiality cases.
